DAMON CASTILLO BAND
• Featured on the Budweiser's "King of Rock" Compilation Halfway to a gig last year, Damon suddenly found his drummer, his saxophonist and himself upside-down, facing the wrong direction on I-5, following a tire blowout that resulted in their touring van rolling several times. The scene was littered with glass and band equipment. "I found my vocal mic out in the middle of the freeway. The mic still works; I still sing on it every show." Like their gear, the bandmates were beat up but undaunted. "I knew right then, that music was what I was supposed to be doing. I wanted to play even more that night. We were trying to figure out a way to make the shows, but the tow truck driver talked us out of it, right before he hauled the wreck away." All five members of the Damon Castillo Band hail from the Golden State, and together create a sound that is uniquely California-rock-funk-and-soul. They have a massive west-coast following that thrives on their distinctive sound and electrifying live performances, which includes Larry Kim (Sax), Kristian Ducharme (Keys), Jennings Jacobsen (Drums), Brian Lanzone (Bass), and Damon Castillo (Lead Guitar/Vocals). Each member is an artist in their own right, with individual style and command of their instrument. Currently, the Band is recording their next album with Grammy Award-winning music producer, Ross Hogarth. After the success of their EP, Revolving Door, fans are eagerly awaiting this next installation of music, which Damon describes as, "a more distilled version of their band sound," "autobiographical," and a "statement" among "this day of manufactured music." Reflecting the very reason their fans flock to their concerts, Damon sums up their new songs and next album, "It’s not the homogenized, layered production where you can’t hear the music. You will be able to hear real musicians playing real tunes." This summer, the Damon Castillo Band will begin a nationwide tour and release their new album in the fall.
