Mohammed Bilal takes his knowledge from MTV’s ‘Real World – San Francisco’ and couples it with his career as a spoken word artist and blends some of his lecture style, to form Folk-Hop - scaled down hip-hop with well-crafted songs, powerful vocals, vibrant beats, and folk sensibility. Drawing on topics such as diversity and acceptance, his music breathes light into the sometimes dark world of hip-hop. He creates funky beats, raps, and provokes thought through his lyrics that are strengthened by vocalist, Kimiko Joy. Once a musician, always a musician; a former member of hip-hop group, Midnight Voices, Mohammed has always been recognized for his commitment to being a positive role model and demanding respect when rap music was granted anything but.
