MOLLY DEAN

With the release of a new album set for the Spring of 2009, Molly Dean has been a busy woman. The past few years have brought many new inspiring qualities into her musical path including the completion of a degree in Sound Arts in 2008. The day following graduation (literally), Molly was on a plane to Alaska to live for five months (a present to herself) to focus on writing, being outdoors as much as possible, and to re-learn how to just...slow....down....It worked. Molly returned to the lower 48 with restored energy and motivation to face the challenges of maintaining a strong musical career. Not to mention a lot of new music to play for her fans! In October, Molly Dean was chosen to be the recipient of a grant from the Grove Foundation (based in the Twin Cities) to record and release her third independent album. Incorporating the RC 50 Loop station into her live shows, which allows her to weave vocal and instrumental harmonies, truly sets her apart from the archetypal female folk artist. In working with these effects pedals for over six years, and as nothing is pre-recorded, each live show is always a new one for both the listener and the experienced performer. Her music has been described as a "deceptively simple" acoustic performance that "thrives in live performance." And more importantly: 1. Come see a show; and 2. Pay attention.
