• 2005 NACA Mid-Atlantic Festival Showcase
Welcome to live hip-hop courtesy of The Urban Sophisticates. Surviving on talent and desire, this band is out to make more than a little noise. Formed in Greensboro, NC in 2002, just shortly after The Roots had really made their mark on live hip-hop, The Urban Sophisticates began creating a stir around the east coast. They are founded on faith and family and their lyrics are described as poetic, spiritual, and catchy. Horns are blended to make hip-hop unlike any other. In their short existence, they have shared the stage with acts such as The Toasters, Blindside, Sixpence None the Richer, and Switchfoot. They have also been seen on the WB’s “Buster Brown” Show. This next year will bring a lot of good to The Urban Sophisticates. They look forward to breaking into new markets, continuing to reinvent hip-hop and introducing their sound to the college audiences.
