The Amazing Wellness Race (TAWR) is not your typical race — it's an immersive wellness experience designed to promote mental health, self-discovery, and overall well-being. Unlike traditional mental health fairs, TAWR offers up to 8 engaging stations, plus a Start and Finish Line, with activities focusing on mental and physical wellness. These stations, crafted by a team of dedicated experts including an education major and a seasoned psychiatric nurse, present diverse learning objectives and cater to various learning styles such as kinesthetic, tactile, visual, and more. From affirmation exercises, trivia, board games, movement options, and more; each activity is crafted to nurture a sense of wellness and connection within the campus community.
But here's the twist --- The Amazing Wellness Race is not about speed or victory; it is about embracing each moment, fostering self-care, and supporting one another. Inspired by the TV show, "The Amazing Race", be prepared to see familiar verbiage with opportunities for Detours, Pit Stops, Superlegs, Fast Forwards, Intersections, and more! Photo opportunities and prize incentives are also included for an extra layer of excitement! No Roadblocks, Speed Bumps, Hazards, Yields, or Eliminations will be in this race. Unlike the TV show, our focus is solely on promoting wellness, so no competitive or elimination elements are included. During The Amazing Wellness Race, participants collect passport stamps at each station they complete and turn in completed passports at the Finish Line to receive a "TAWR Completion Certificate" as a keepsake of their wellness triumph. Whether you're a seasoned wellness enthusiast or just beginning your journey, The Amazing Wellness Race offers something for everyone.

Bead Who You Are
Learning Objectives: Self Love, Self-Acceptance & Community Building
The Bead Who You Are station offers a creative and reflective experience designed to celebrate individuality! Participants will have the opportunity to select a variety of colorful beads, each representing various facets of who they are, to create a personalized keychain or bracelet—producing a vibrant representation of their unique journey and the qualities that make them special. This activity promotes self-reflection, encourages exploration, and fosters appreciation for the different experiences that shape us. We warmly welcome everyone to share their creations and stories in a supportive and uplifting environment, where we can all celebrate our individuality together.
Life Letters
Learning Objectives: Communicating Emotions, Expressing Love & Kindness, Socialization, Forgiveness and Friendship
At the Life Letter Station, each participant writes a letter to an individual that has impacted their lives in a meaningful way. The letter should express gratitude, admiration, or appreciation for the positive influence that person has had. This activity encourages relationship reflection, fosters connection through communication, and gives participants an example of how important communication is in relationships. Our words have the power to uplift and inspire, and this activity was created to help you spread appreciation and strengthen relationships one letter at a time.
Mental Health Trivia
Learning Objectives: Increase Knowledge on Mental Health Topics and Strengthen Mental Health Awareness, Understanding & Knowledge
The Mental Health Trivia Station is an interactive initiative aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of mental health and wellness topics through engaging games. Through multiple-choice, true or false, and open-ended questions, the goal is for furthered understanding of mental well-being. Get ready to challenge your perceptions and expand your knowledge!
Community Connection
Learning Objectives: Understanding & Knowledge, Empathy, Fairness, Communication Skills, Community Building
At the Community Connection Station, participants play a one-of-a-kind board game that encourages participants to engage in meaningful dialogues, share personal experiences, and foster a sense of belonging within the community. Throughout the game, participants will explore different perspectives and build relationships that enhance mutual understanding. The game promotes thoughtful discussion about the importance of fairness in our communities and how different experiences shape individuals’ lives. Participants will explore the value of understanding and support in creating a positive environment for everyone.
Mindful Movement
Learning Objectives: Physical Health *Extra Credit: Advocacy & Community Building
The Mindful Movement Station is designed to showcase that fitness comes in various forms, where there is no “one-size fits all” approach to movement! It promotes ability inclusivity, and the idea that physical activity can be enjoyable and tailored to individual preferences and needs. The goal is to encourage participants to explore different ways to stay active for long-term movement motivation, which should also aid in body and brain health. We celebrate fitness in all its diverse forms! From traditional physical exercise to the latest TikTok dance trends, there is something for everyone to enjoy and explore. Join us for movement options designed to boost endorphins, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.
Unlock Your Story
Learning Objectives: Personal Sharing, Belonging, Community Building, Advocacy, Understanding & Knowledge
The Unlock Your Story Station is a transformative activity that invites individuals to share their personal stories of overcoming challenges. In exchange for their story, participants receive a key with a semicolon symbol, which they can turn into a keychain. This symbolic gesture not only serves as a reminder of their resilience, but also helps raise awareness for mental health stigmas. Through this activity, students learn the profound impact of vulnerability, empathy, and connection. By sharing stories, participants discover that they are not alone, and that their experiences have the power to inspire and support others. This activity underscores the importance of seeking help, offering support, and breaking the silence surrounding mental health issues. It empowers students to create a supportive community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Gratitude Gallery
Learning Objectives: Expressing Gratitude, Reflection & Community Building Finish Line: Follow Through & Encouragement
The Gratitude Gallery Station invites participants to express appreciation and reflect on positive aspects of their lives. As this piece of art fills, it becomes a visual representation of the collective gratitude within the community. By displaying this artwork in public spaces, the community celebrates and reinforces a culture of gratitude. Encouraging gratitude expression helps individuals focus on good things in their lives, which can promote mental well-being and resilience. Overall, Gratitude Gallery serves as a reminder to appreciate the simple joys in life, which can also foster a more positive and supportive community environment.
Body Positivity
Learning Objectives: Body Positivity, Self Love, Reflection & Acceptance
During the Body Positivity Station, participants experience the importance of self-love, acceptance, and appreciation through practicing positive affirmations. By practicing positive affirmations and meditation, participants are more likely to cultivate a mindset of body positivity and appreciation, with a goal of creating a healthier relationship with self. After completing the activity, participants are welcome to write their most powerful affirmations on a pocket mirror. Taking the mirror with them serves as a tangible reminder to embrace their unique self and foster confidence in their own skin. Don’t forget the importance of celebrating your body, you only get one of them!
DETOUR/SUPERLEG: Social Butterfly
Learning Objectives: Socialization, Kindness, Friendship & Community Building
The Social Butterfly Station is an effective activity for friendship building, and also a challenging program for some participants who are not extroverts. THAT’S OKAY! Doing healthy things outside your comfort zone is where growth happens, and some even say that’s where magic happens. Choose this activity, and it will teach you one of many strategies in starting dialogues with someone new. The goal is to spread kindness, promote social interaction & connections, and possibly even new friends.
Wellness Kits
Learning Objectives: Relaxation & Creativity
Need a creative DIY project that enhances your mental and emotional health? Plants are the perfect companion in setting a peaceful environment perfect for alleviating mental health disparity symptoms such as stress, anxiety, and depression. Each kit includes simple step-by-step instructions on how to put the kit together, and how to care for the air plant. Choose between an Air Plant, Moss Art, or Sand Art Kit to take home or complete during your race today!

Inspiration Grids
Learning Objectives: Reflection, Growth, Creativity, Goal Setting & Encouragement
Do you ever find yourself feeling so overwhelmed by everything you want to achieve? Goal setting has never been so easy! The Inspiration Grid is a vision board recreated. It is the ultimate goal setting tool that is conducive for continued growth and goal adjustments. This inspiration grid will help keep your focus and motivation to elevate your essence and achieve your dreams. Take one home or create one during the race, whatever fits your pace.
Pause 4 Paws
Learning Objectives: Animal Therapy, Love, Kindness, & Relaxation
Invite The Amazing Wellness Race roving therapy and service dog, Storm! The dog handler will walk around with Storm throughout the race to greet any participants who would like to say “hi”. Storm LOVES humans, and will generously be anyone’s best friend. Animal therapy is proven to improve the wellness of many, so consider inviting Storm to your race!
